Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Beechwood's Third in Last Four Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Highlands, Beechwood was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Western Brown Broncos a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Arrasmith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Matthew Cottengim and Tyler Fryman did most of the damage at the plate: Cottengim got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Fryman went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Hudson Edwards was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Beechwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Brown only posted an OBP of .118.

Beechwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. As for Western Brown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-7.

Looking ahead, Beechwood will take on Harrison County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Western Brown, they will face off against Clermont Northeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
