The Scott Beavers put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 51-47 W over Cimarron. Given Scott's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Cimarron is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Scott's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Rumford, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Sage Stoecklein, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Scott's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Cimarron, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Goodland the next time they take the court. Scott will head out to face Goodland at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cimarron will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
