The Phoenix Spartans suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by St. Mary's Academy 63-32. Phoenix was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. Mary's Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was J'Via Hill, who scored ten points. Jamiya Addison was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Phoenix's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for St. Mary's Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix and De La Salle will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. De La Salle is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for St. Mary's Academy, St. Mary's Academy and Episcopal will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
