Olean is a perfect 10-0 against Southwestern since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Huskies will square off against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Olean put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Jamestown as they made off with a 24-5 victory.
Olean let Ally Anastasia and Anna Bates run wild. Anastasia went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI, while Bates went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Bates has posted since back in May of 2025. Alyx Henzel was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Olean always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Southwestern was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Dunkirk with a sharp 10-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won three in a row.
Madi Burnett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ariana Silakowski, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Mayah Reyes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Southwestern's record is now 2-4. As for Olean, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Southwestern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Olean hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Southwestern, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Olean's hitters?
Everything went Olean's way against Southwestern in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Olean made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
