George Coleman and Cooper Berkoff certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Coleman went 6 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and six steals, while Berkoff dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most steals Coleman has posted since back in January of 2024. Leighton Little was another key player, putting up six points.
Even though they lost, St. David's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wake Christian Academy only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Wake Christian Academy was led to victory by Paxton Coon and Preston Avery. Coon went 7 for 16 en route to 22 points, while Avery went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points along with five assists and five boards. Avery continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Malacinski, who posted nine points.
St. David's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Wake Christian Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-16.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Trinity Academy the next time they take the court. St. David's will host Trinity Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Wake Christian Academy will head out to face them at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
