Basketball Recap: Mccormick Piles Up the Points Against Whitmire

McCormick had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 53-point drubbing they dealt Whitmire on Friday. The McCormick Chiefs blew past the Whitmire Wolverines 80-27. With the Chiefs ahead 55-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McCormick to victory, but perhaps none more so than Terrence Cartledge, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Cartledge is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Daruis Houston, who posted nine points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

McCormick has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Whitmire, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCormick will square off against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Whitmire, they will take on GREEN Upstate at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
