After a string of eight wins, The Liberty North Eagles''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Blue Springs 70-31. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Liberty North came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked second, while Blue Springs is ranked 38th).
Liberty North's loss came despite strong showings from Keelan Smith and Tillman Martin. Smith picked up 220 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Martin threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Smith's longest reception was for an incredible 81 yards. Another player making a difference was Micahjo Barnett, who rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
Liberty North's loss dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Blue Springs, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-7.
