Two dominant signal callers in Logan Rodriguez and Aidan Jakobsohn are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Orange Grove Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Ingleside Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Orange Grove was fully in charge, breezing past West Oso 53-20 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-0.
Rodriguez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 132 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Diego Garza also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ingleside put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Robstown with a sharp 58-35 win. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Ingleside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jakobsohn out in front who threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Jakobsohn is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last eight games he's played. Jaydon Smith also helped out as he racked up 150 receiving yards.
Orange Grove is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Ingleside, their victory was their 16th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
Orange Grove suffered a grim 45-21 defeat to Ingleside in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Orange Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
