Wharton (Tampa, Fla.) trailed
Bloomingdale (Valrico, Fla.) by 15 points at one time, but managed to come all the way back and secure a 30-23 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Tommy McLaughlin, the Bulls went into halftime with a 17-8 lead. The Wildcats scored the winning points with a touchdown run by
Jeff Keil that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Wharton still trailed by 15 points going into the fourth quarter. But 22 points in the fourth helped WHS pull out the victory.
The Tampa school didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Keil ran for a touchdown.
The loss comes after Bloomingdale defeated Newsome 24-10 last week. The win was a nice bounce back for the Wildcats, who lost to Plant last week, 46-13. The win broke Wharton's two-game losing streak. The loss snapped Bloomingdale's two-game winning streak.
BHS (5-4) faces off against Middleton in a non-conference game its next time out. The Tigers enter the contest having posted a 2-6.
