The Tri Titans came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Knightstown by a score of 46-39. This was payback for Tri, who suffered a 57-48 loss the last time these two teams met.
Leading Tri to victory were Josiah Cox and Bryant Cornelius. Cox scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, while Cornelius scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least 25% of Tri's points. Another player making a difference was Cole Melton , who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Knightstown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brayden McDaniel, who scored 12 points. McDaniel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Roberson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Tri's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Knightstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri will take on Cambridge City Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cambridge City Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. As for Knightstown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
