Ursuline is a perfect 4-0 against Girard since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Fighting Irish will face off against the Indians at 2:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Ursuline is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Villa Angela-St. Joseph, sneaking past 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Irish.

Anthony Triveri made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Ursuline: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AJ Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
Ursuline hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Villa Angela-St. Joseph struck out eight times.
Girard came out on top against Perry on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Indians narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pirates 7-6. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by just one run.
Camron Herrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Zach Ward was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Will Hynes was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Girard's victory bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Ursuline, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ursuline has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Girard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ursuline beat Girard 5-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Irish since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
