The Key West Conchs lost against the Gulf Coast Sharks back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Key West was outmatched by Gulf Coast at home and fell 61-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Key West in their matchups with Gulf Coast: they've now lost five in a row.
Gulf Coast had a senior duo take command as Alex Mcdonough scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals and Sophia Pasquarello scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Pasquarello continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Fitzgerald, who scored 5 points along with 5 steals.
Key West's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Gulf Coast, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Key West will be playing at home against North Port at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gulf Coast is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Naples at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Naples will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Gulf Coast is ranked 37th).
