The Quincy Trojans will take on the East Nicolaus Spartans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Quincy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Quincy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Shasta, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since March 31st.

Jemma Trueblood was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marleigh Merino, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Adrian Goulet, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, East Nicolaus put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Everything went their way against Quincy as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 14 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Quincy, East Nicolaus also got a great game from a two-way player: Stevie Knight. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Knight was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, Lela DeCecco was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Makinze Massey was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
East Nicolaus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quincy only posted an OBP of .062.
Quincy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for East Nicolaus, their record is now 20-6.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Quincy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like East Nicolaus struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Quincy might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from East Nicolaus in their previous matchup on Thursday. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
