Basketball Recap: Dundy County-Stratton Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Perkins County

On Saturday, Dundy County-Stratton faced Perkins County in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Dundy County-Stratton Tigers lost 66-45 to the Perkins County Plainsmen. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Dundy County-Stratton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was August Shaw, who posted 16 points. That's the most points Shaw has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Lane Bybee, who put up six points in addition to eight boards and four blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, Dundy County-Stratton fell to 6-1. As for Perkins County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Dundy County-Stratton will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chase County at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Perkins County also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against South Platte at 3:30 p.m. on December 31st. Perkins County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully South Platte likes a good challenge.
