It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Basha Bears had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against American Leadership Academy by a score of 38-31. The victory was familiar territory for Basha who now have nine in a row.
Demond Williams Jr. was his usual excellent self, throwing for 376 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes, and also rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown. Williams Jr. hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Darron Dodd, who picked up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Basha has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 10-2 Brophy College Prep and 8-3 Chandler (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.1% over those games). As for American Leadership Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Basha will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on November 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Centennial is ranked 31st, while Basha is ranked 33rd). American Leadership Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
