After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Frenship, the Hobbs Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They escaped with a win against Caprock by the margin of a single free throw, 64-63. With that win, Hobbs brought their scoring average up to 52 points per game.
Hobbs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abraham Pe?a led the charge by scoring 22 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Braddock Beaty, who scored 19 points.
The victory got Hobbs back to even at 1-1. As for Caprock, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Hobbs will be playing at home against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caprock, they will square off against Montwood at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Montwood is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
