Having just played yesterday, the Covenant Christian Cougars will get right back to it and host the Providence Classical Paladins at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Covenant Christian has four straight wins, Providence Classical has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Covenant Christian proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 46) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 victory over Salt and Light Homeschool.
Alani Owens was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeley Chaddick, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Providence Classical took a serious blow against Allen Academy on Thursday, falling 65-15.
Covenant Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 19-12 record this season. As for Providence Classical, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Covenant Christian against Providence Classical in their previous matchup on Saturday as the team secured a 59-5 victory. With Covenant Christian ahead 33-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
