Fauquier has gone a perfect 9-0 against Manassas Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Falcons will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Fauquier barely beat Kettle Run the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 8-2 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Manassas Park can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Osbourn as they made off with a 16-6 win. The Cougars' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last eight games.
Minh Huynh made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Manassas Park is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-9 otherwise. Huynh was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carlos Castillo Aviles was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Xavier Tickle, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
The victory was the third in a row for Fauquier, bringing their record up to 10-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Manassas Park, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
Fauquier took their win against Manassas Park in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
