The Mooresville Pioneers will head out to take on the Whiteland Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mooresville blew Cascade out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Cascade got their revenge. The Pioneers fell just short of the Cadets by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Pioneers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mooresville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Denny, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Dane Browning also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Whiteland entered their tilt with Perry Meridian on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Falcons. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Kayden Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Blake Riddle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Whiteland is 6-1 when Riddle posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maalik Perkins, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Whiteland's record is now 11-8. As for Mooresville, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mooresville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Whiteland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mooresville took their win against Whiteland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
