The Steeleville Warriors will head out to take on the Sparta Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sparta took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Steeleville, who comes in off a win.
Steeleville will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Valmeyer, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors never let the Pirates get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Tuesday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Corinne Mueller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabi Hood, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karsen Wedemeyer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Sparta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-3 to Red Bud.
Sparta saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carly Gerlach, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Steeleville and bumps their season record up to 5-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Sparta, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
Sparta's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Steeleville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sparta, though, as they've been averaging only 2.5 strikeouts. Will Steeleville keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
Steeleville took their win against Sparta in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-12 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
