After both having extra time off, the Calvary Academy Warrior and United Christian Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Calvary Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 25-13 margin over Cumberland Christian last Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Warrior in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won eight in a row.
Gianna Mistretta made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mistretta was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tori DiChiara, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs. Another player making a difference was Sarah Pazik, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Calvary Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .923. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, United Christian Academy had to kick off their season on the road back in April, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Girard College as they made off with a 16-3 victory.
Like Calvary Academy, United Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Molly Ford. On the mound, Ford tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Peyton Magie struck out eight batters over two innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and not a single walk). At the plate, Ford got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Magie went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Hannah Edwards and Taylor Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Edwards went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Martin went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Sophia Seidl was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Calvary Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for United Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
