Spring Creek is 0-10 against Goldsboro since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Gators are taking a road trip to challenge the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Spring Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Spring Creek will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Eastern Wayne, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Gators blew past the Warriors 23-9 last Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.

Rylan Kornegay and Camden Jones made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Kornegay pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jones tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Kornegay got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI, while Jones went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five runs gave Kornegay a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Bell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Spring Creek's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-7 when he doesn't). Nick Smith was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Spring Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Goldsboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-1 to American Leadership Academy-Johnston, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Goldsboro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Grant, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Spring Creek's record now sits at 6-7. As for Goldsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Spring Creek has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Goldsboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Spring Creek suffered a grim 16-9 defeat to Goldsboro in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
