After both having extra time off, the Chalker Wildcats and the Jackson-Milton Bluejays will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Chalker is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Maplewood just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 3-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 7, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Chalker took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-22, 17-25, 25-19, 15-6.
Meanwhile, Jackson-Milton came up short against Mineral Ridge on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Bluejays haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-12, 25-17.
Jackson-Milton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Chalker, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Chalker has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 14 aces per game. However, it's not like Jackson-Milton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
