Basketball Recap: Christian Family Academy Extends Winning Streak to Six

Christian Family Academy extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-1. They blew past the Challenger Firebirds 74-50. The Fire have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Leading Christian Family Academy to victory were Toby Marsh and Zeke Johnson. Marsh shot 63% from the field to rack up 25 points and eight rebounds, while Johnson went 13-for-19 on his way to 30 points and three blocks. Johnson's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 23 points. Jacob Yoder was another key player, putting up two points in addition to 12 boards and six assists.

Christian Family Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

As for Challenger, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while Christian Family Academy is ranked 218th).

Despite the loss, Challenger still got an impressive performance from Braelon Roe, who shot 59% from the field en route to 24 points along with five assists and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Lee, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 11 points.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Christian Family Academy and Nebo Crossing Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. The Bulldogs have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Challenger, they will be playing at home against Community Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
