Granite Bay hasn't had much luck against Folsom recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Grizzlies will venture away from home to square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Granite Bay sitting on three straight victories and Folsom on six.
Last Friday, Granite Bay beat Rocklin 29-20.
Granite Bay relied on the efforts of Isaiah Ene, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and Darnell Turner, who gained 82 total yards and a touchdown. Ene didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, Folsom took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over Jesuit. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Marauders are ranked 72nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
A big part of Folsom's victory came down to the chemistry between Ryder Lyons and his top target Rob Larson. Lyons threw for 341 yards and three TDs while completing 89.3% of his passes while Larson picked up 107 receiving yards and three scores. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Larson a new career-high.
Folsom didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jason Hill Jr..
Granite Bay's record now sits at 7-2. As for Folsom, their record is now 8-1.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Granite Bay has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 217.9 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Folsom, though, as they've been averaging only 75.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Granite Bay was taken down by Folsom 48-10 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lyons, who threw for 249 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. Now that the Grizzlies know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
