Volleyball Recap: Loudonville Starts Season with Win at Home

Loudonville took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Northwestern Huskies as they made off with a 3-0 win. This was payback for the Redbirds, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

While Loudonville might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Northwestern scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

Sophie Shultz paced Loudonville's offense, picking up eight kills. Shultz got some help from Ella Vermilya and her 19 assists. Helaina Gray controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Loudonville has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Mt. Gilead on the 19th. As for Northwestern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against New London on the 18th.
