The Boca Ciega Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 29 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-25 victory over Pinellas Park. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Boca Ciega also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boca Ciega to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maliyah Byrd, who scored 26 points. The matchup was Byrd's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of JaLainah Hunt, who scored 16 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Boca Ciega and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Pinellas Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boca Ciega will square off against Dunedin at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Haylee Dones and Byrd. Pinellas Park will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Lake at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
