Peoria Heights had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Mendon Unity Mustangs by a score of 8-5. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.
Barrett Marfell made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Marfell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Ahart, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Brady Larson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
