Clay and Northview are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clay 2.7, Northview 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Clay was able to grind out a solid win over Oak Harbor, taking the game 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
George Edwards looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Eversman, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Weseman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Northview came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Panthers.
Graham Newnham tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
At the plate, Charlie Paulson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Conner Draper, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Northview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Northview pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Clay, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
Northview's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Clay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Northview, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Clay keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
Clay took their victory against Northview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-5 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
