If the Southern Huntingdon County Rockets were feeling good off their 64-24 takedown of the Northern Bedford County Panthers on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southern Huntingdon County suffered a tough 49-26 defeat at the hands of Claysburg-Kimmel on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Southern Huntingdon County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while Claysburg-Kimmel is ranked 132nd).
Claysburg-Kimmel found their leader in underclassman Brayden Haney, who scored 20 points. The game was Haney's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Elias Ritchey was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and four steals.
Southern Huntingdon County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Southern Huntingdon County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against McConnellsburg at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully McConnellsburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. Claysburg-Kimmel will be home for the holidays to greet Southern Fulton at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
