There's no place like home for the Niceville Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Florida State University High School on Saturday and snuck past 49-47. Given Niceville's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Florida State University High School is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Niceville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Kimball, who scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kimball has scored at least 25% of Niceville's points. Carson Fayard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Several Seminoles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emilie Robertson, who scored 17 points. The game was Robertson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hackett, who scored 6 points along with 9 assists and 5 rebounds.
Niceville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Florida State University High School, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
Niceville will be playing at home against Ponce De Leon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Ponce De Leon will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Florida State University High School, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
