If Layton wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Syracuse, they should've done a better job of containing Ledger Wight. The Titans blew past the Lancers, posting a 52-7 victory with plenty of help from Wight, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 137 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 108.5 rushing yards per game.

One reason for the win was Syracuse's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Ben Cook refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Syracuse got some further help from Kaleb Hall: he made three total tackles and snagged three interceptions.

The win made it two in a row for Syracuse and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.5 points over those games. As for Layton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Syracuse is set to take on their familiar foe Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 959 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Layton will square off against rival Weber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
