The Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Perkins County Plainsmen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Maywood/Hayes Center sitting on 11 straight victories and Perkins County on seven.
Maywood/Hayes Center scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Wauneta-Palisade at home to the tune of 75-32. Maywood/Hayes Center has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.
Maywood/Hayes Center's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jeremiah Ingison, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds, and Haydn Farr, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Ingison hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Jaxson Anders was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Maywood/Hayes Center used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Wauneta-Palisade. And. Oliver Anders made the most of the opportunity, scoring two points along with five rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Perkins County beat Sandhills Valley 42-37 on Friday.
Maywood/Hayes Center's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.2 points. As for Perkins County, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Maywood/Hayes Center took their win against Perkins County when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 80-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maywood/Hayes Center since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
