If the Mahtomedi Zephyrs were riding high off their 57-37 takedown of the St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mahtomedi was beaten by Providence Academy 99-69 on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (57), Mahtomedi still had to take the loss.
Providence Academy found their leader in underclassman Maddyn Greenway, who scored 40 points along with 9 steals and 6 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Greenway has scored at least 25% of Providence Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Hope Counts, who scored 8 points along with 13 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Mahtomedi has fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 1-3. As for Providence Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mahtomedi will take on Chisago Lakes Area at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Providence Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Orono at 7:00 p.m. Orono has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 219 points over their last three contests.
