Baseball Recap: Ellington Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

16 must be Ellington's lucky number: they beat Academy of Science and Innovation with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Knights beat the Ravens by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-2. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Jack Weigand was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Grimes, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Ellington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Ellington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellington will square off against East Granby at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they will challenge Hale Ray at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
