A feisty cat fight will be fought as Battlefield Bobcats challenge Brentsville District Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Battlefield put up the most points they have all season on Tuesday. They blew past Osbourn 25-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.
Olivia Morse looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Jaylen Wright was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Mo Delman also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Battlefield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Brentsville District had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Wildcats.
Danielle Clem spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate Search, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ulrich, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Battlefield now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Brentsville District, their record now sits at 5-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Battlefield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. However, it's not like Brentsville District struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Battlefield might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Brentsville District in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
