The Liberty County Bulldogs came tearing into Monday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Port St. Joe with points to spare, taking the game 44-27. For Liberty County, this counts as revenge for the 53-14 defeat Port St. Joe walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2021.
Liberty County was led to victory by Caleigh Peddie and Gabriella Flowers. Peddie scored 14 points, while Flowers scored 18 points.
Jayla Hill and Ty'Shawn Shackelford certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Hill scored ten points along with six steals, while Shackelford scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shackelford has scored all season.
Liberty County's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. As for Port St. Joe, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Liberty County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Emmanuel Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Port St. Joe, they will head out on the road to take on Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
