The IMater Charter Knights had just enough and edged out the Coral Gables Cavaliers  6-5 on Wednesday.
 Luis Hernandez tossed a big game,   striking out seven batters over  4.1 innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits.
 At the plate,  Alejandro De La Vega and  Carlos De La Vega did most of the damage at the plate:  Alejandro  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4, while  Carlos  scored a  run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave  Carlos a new career-high in  doubles (two).  Abel Suarez also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
IMater Charter has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.3 runs over those games. Coral Gables' defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IMater Charter will face off against Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30  p.m.  on Monday. Sports Leadership & Management has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.85  runs per game on average), something iMater Charter will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Coral Gables, they will challenge Mater Academy Charter at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
