Softball Recap: Champaign Central Comes Up Short

Champaign Central blew Effingham out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Effingham got their revenge. The Maroons fell just short of the Hearts by a score of 12-10. Even though they lost, the Maroons' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Mya De La Cruz led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Olivia Roundtree was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Champaign Central now has a losing record of 1-2-1. As for Effingham, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Coming up, Champaign Central will take on Casey-Westfield at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Maroons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Effingham, they will square off against Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
