The McAllen Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Pioneer Diamondbacks with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. McAllen secured a 50-46 W over Pioneer on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as McAllen also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Pioneer lost, one person who can't be blamed is Julian Valdez. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Edward Chavez, who scored nine points along with two steals.
McAllen is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Pioneer, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.
McAllen will head out on the road to challenge Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1113th, while McAllen is ranked 323rd). As for Pioneer, they will be playing at home against McAllen Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
