Howland came into Saturday's matchup looking for another win against Hoover, but Claire Jurica wouldn't allow it. The Vikings blew past the Tigers 3-0 on Saturday with plenty of help from Jurica, who had three digs and three aces. Jurica is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 25 every time she's taken the court this season.
The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-20.
Hoover's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Sofia Tula, who had ten digs and two aces, and Mallory Stutzman, who had 15 digs and one assist. Those ten digs gave Tula a new career-high.
They weren't the only good servers: Hoover was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Mayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Olmsted Falls.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-6, 25-15.
Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Hoover, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season.
Hoover took their win against Mayfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Kansas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
