Basketball Game Preview: Goose Creek Memorial Patriots vs. King Panthers

Goose Creek Memorial is 7-1 against King since November of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Goose Creek Memorial Patriots will venture away from home to square off against the King Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Goose Creek Memorial is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Kingwood: they outscored them in every quarter. Goose Creek Memorial walked away with a 49-41 win over Kingwood on Tuesday.

Goose Creek Memorial found their leader in freshman Carinne Bouie, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Bouie is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kindall Houston, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, King strolled past Atascocita with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 46-28. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Eagles are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

King's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Goose Creek Memorial, their record now sits at 7-8.

Goose Creek Memorial took a serious blow against King in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 85-40. Can Goose Creek Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
