After flying high against the Meadow Bridge Wildcats last Friday, the Summers County Bobcats came back down to earth. Summers County fell 61-53 to the Patriots on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Summers County of the 56-47 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
It was another big night for Thad Brown, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds for Midland Trail. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Bailes, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Summers County's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Midland Trail, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Summers County will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Liberty is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Midland Trail, they will be playing at home against the Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (Nicholas County is ranked 70th, while the Patriots are ranked 46th).
