Basketball Recap: Donahue Catholic Skates Past Marco Island Academy with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Donahue Catholic). They blew past the Marco Island Academy Rays 85-49 on Friday. The Shamrocks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 29 points or more this season.

Donahue Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Loboda out in front who went 10 for 19 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds. The contest was Loboda's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corban Copeland, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and five assists.

Donahue Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Donahue Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Marco Island Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Donahue Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-53 win against Marathon on the 14th. As for Marco Island Academy, they will host The Village School of Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
