The Cyprus Pirates will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the West Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Cyprus will be strutting in after a victory, while West will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Cyprus made easy work of Taylorsville and carried off a 3-0 win.
Cyprus not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Taylorsville between 15 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.
Cyprus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Uifo'Ou Laloni led the charge by getting 23 assists, six kills, six digs, and a solo block. Journey Kioa was another key player, getting 12 assists, seven digs, six kills, and two aces.
Meanwhile, West unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Hunter by a score of 3-2. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 25-19 in the first set.
While West ultimately came up short, they really made Hunter work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-13, 28-26, 20-25, 16-14.
Cyprus is now 10-8, having gone 3-4 since their six-game winning streak ended. As for West, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
