Glastonbury is 0-10 against Southington since May of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Guardians will face off against the Blue Knights at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Glastonbury took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Middletown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Guardians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Dragons on Wednesday, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Guardians have posted since April 17, 2024.

Lyla Elliott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Sylvia Lewis and Emily Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Lewis went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Thompson went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That double was Thompson's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Schlenger, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Glastonbury kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Southington waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 4-0 shutout.
Shelby Jordan made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ashlyn Kenefick was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Glastonbury's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Southington, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Glastonbury suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Southington when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Guardians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
