Softball Recap: Slocomb Gets the Win

Seven must be Slocomb's lucky number: they beat Pike Road with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Red Tops had just enough and edged out the Patriots 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Tops have posted since March 1st.

The team relied heavily on Chloe Andrews, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Olivia Abrego also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Andrews wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Slocomb lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Slocomb pushed their record up to 11-13 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pike Road, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-20 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slocomb will venture away from home to face off against Dale County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pike Road, they will head out to challenge Charles Henderson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
