The Garrett Railroaders will take on the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Garrett came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, falling 8-1. The loss continues a trend for the Railroaders in their meetings with the Saints: they've now lost six in a row.
Garrett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Gonya, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Bruins 20-5. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Bruins on their field since May 11, 2021.
Vincent Knipp looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers let Jacob Felger and Christian Brell run wild. Felger went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple, while Brell went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. What's more, Brell posted two doubles, the most he's had over his last 16 contests. Ben Kiracofe was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Garrett, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Garrett beat Fort Wayne Bishop Luers 7-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Railroaders repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
