The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 63-46 to Sunrise Mountain. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountain Ridge in their matchups with Sunrise Mountain: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Thompson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Saeva, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Mountain Ridge were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunrise Mountain only posted 20 assists.
Jason Higgins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sunrise Mountain, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Andrew Balian was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten assists.
Mountain Ridge's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Sunrise Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Ridge and Boulder Creek will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Boulder Creek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 73 points per game. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will be playing at home against Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Mountain has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 415 points over their last five matches.
