The Countryside Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dunedin 75-29 on the road. With Countryside ahead 50-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Ally Wright continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds.
Dunedin's loss came despite strong showings from Haylee Dones and Trinity Clincy. Dones scored 16 points, while Clincy scored four points along with seven assists and five steals. Clincy hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Ava Marchido, who scored three points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Countryside pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Dunedin, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Countryside and North Tampa Christian Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Tampa Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Dunedin, they will head out on the road to take on Gulf at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gulf is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
